Basilica of Salvador Mundi or of the SS. Savior

The origins of this monumental church date back to the Byzantine era, but in 1515 the structure underwent a considerable expansion which gave it its present form, a Latin cross layout with three naves. At the end of the eighteenth century, however, the church underwent a profound internal restyling which led to the addition of late Baroque stuccos which, thanks to a recent restoration, have been carefully removed to restore originality to the architecture. The round arches contained within them splendid sandstone columns with pointed arches. The area that has remained Baroque is that of the presbytery, which houses frescoes on the ceiling. Among the most valuable works are the statue of the Madonna della Neve, by Antonello Gagini from 1527, a Gaginian cona and the statue of Salvator Mundi placed on the high altar.
