Observant friars minor convent

The Convent of the Observant Friars of San Francesco di Paola is a monumental complex now in ruins located north of the town of Raccuja, of which only the Church dedicated to Maria SS. Remains intact. Annunziata. Today the property is incorporated in the city cemetery. The monastic area is readable only in the cloister area of ​​which only the courtyard and the central well are preserved. The cult building welcomes the visitor with the baroque stone portal enriched not only by a beautiful niche and an elegant broken pediment, but also by two fluted Corinthian columns. The interior has a single nave and is embellished with local sandstone architectural elements carved in Corinthian arches and pilasters that mark the side altars. The high altar, framed in a splendid triumphal arch houses a fine wooden crucifix.
