Sun-dried tomato - Pomodoro "seccagno" di Salina sottolio

€8.50

From the ancient tradition of the Aeolian Islands, the "pomodorino seccagno", sun-dried tomato of Salina, is a tomato of intense red color, with an inebriating scent and a strong taste that recalls the old flavors of the past.

The production technique, strictly organic, has been repeated almost unchanged for centuries: the tomatoes, cultivated in a dry regime on sandy soils of volcanic origin on the island of Salina, are harvested during the months of July and August, cut by hand, salted and exposed to the sun for about three days on the "cannizzi". In this way, dried tomatoes with an incomparable taste are obtained.

Michele Oliva, a passionate agronomist, after careful historical and technical-agricultural studies, strongly believes in the revival of this tomato, cultivated until now only in family gardens. His commitment and his activity aim to maintain the cultural and local traditions through a typical product of high quality.

Preserved in oil is ideal for appetizers, accompanied with cheese fresh and seasoned cheeses, it is good to enrich your salads.
