Lions fountain

The Fontana dei Leoni is the most famous point of interest in the village of Capri Leone, so much so as to give its name to the municipality itself. The monumental complex, located in an area adjacent to Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, is composed of two lions inscribed in niches and from whose jaws fresh waters flow. The oldest of the two sculptures, the lioness, is made of pink San Marco marble and dates back to the 15th century. The other, which represents the lion, is made of concrete, made by the Giuffrè brothers from Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto in 1910. Above the latter, there is the coat of arms of the King of Italy carved in Aluntian marble in 1891. The two sculptures are divided by two masonry columns that give monumentality to the place.
