Piazza Duomo (ex Chiesa Madre) - Capri Leone

Piazza Duomo, called by the Caprileonese above the walls is the zero point of the ancient village, an eminent place overlooking the splendid Tyrrhenian Sea and the Aeolian islands. Until before the twentieth century this square was framed by buildings of great historical interest such as the Arab-Norman tower, the baronial palace and the Mother Church, unfortunately demolished during the course of the twentieth century. Instead of the ancient Mother Church, which was characterized by the mighty bell tower and the entrance staircase, in the mid-seventies the skeleton of a new church remained unfinished. However, an important redevelopment project is underway which will give new life and new impetus to this strategic location in the small center of Capri Leone.
