Church of San Marco - Ficarra

The church of San Marco Evangelista is located in the lower part east of the inhabited center, in the quartrire that bears his name, at the end of a maze of narrow streets that depart from the main square. The church, with a very simple structure with a single nave, is historically documented through a testament of one of the Marquises of the Lancia who destined for this building of worship the sum of a duchy for the celebration of a mass every Saturday. Inside, it is kept on the main altar, a particular wooden effigy of San Marco Evangelista, represented seated on a bench with his legs crossed in the act of writing his gospel.
