Church of Saints Elena and Costantino - Piraino

The Church of Saints Elena and Costantino, dating back most likely to the 17th century, represents a rarity for Sicilian churches as it is named after a figure of Saint recognized by the Eastern Church and not by the Western Church. Inside, on the main altar there is an eighteenth-century baroque structure which houses, under a wooden cross with the inscription In hoc signo vincis, the two sculptural effigies of the Emperor Constantine and his mother Elena, to whom precisely the religious building is dedicated.
