Sinagra Castle
- Sicilia
The Castle, located on a rocky promontory, on the right bank of the Fiumara di Sinagra, was inhabited by various families such as the Branciforti, the Lancia, the Afflitti, the Ventimiglia and the Ioppolo and was abandoned in 1739, when it was heavily damaged by the severe earthquake that hit the country. It is assumed that the Castle was originally born as a watchtower and converted, only later, probably in the Norman era, into a noble residence. Today the building, completely incorporated in the inhabited center, preserves the tower with the clock, the perimeter walls and a part of the courtyard. The building complex is completed by the small Church of Sant'Antonio, with a single nave, presumably built in the Norman era. A place of great charm and charm, the Castle area is ideal for romantic walks, cultural events, concerts and dancing evenings.
