Church of the Crucifix or Convent - Sinagra

The Church of the Crucifix, also known as the Church of the Convent, is one of the oldest churches in Sinagra, built between the end of the 1400s and the beginning of the 1500s. A rare example of a two-nave sacred building with carved stone columns, the Church of the Crucifix contains numerous works of art including a marble statue of Saint Catherine of the Gaginian school and a wooden crucifix of extraordinary workmanship, probably dating back to the 1400s, kept inside a fine drawer wardrobe on which scenes depicting scenes are painted the Passion of Jesus. Opening the closet doors reveals two other paintings: Our Lady of Sorrows and St. John. Also worthy of note is a table from the 1600s depicting the Madonna with the Souls of Purgatory. Attached to the church is a medieval bell tower.
