Mother Church of San Michele Arcangelo - Sinagra
- Sicilia
Matrix of the town, the Church of San Michele Arcangelo is from the nineteenth century. A Latin cross plan with a single nave and Doric-style columns, the sacred building, damaged several times, has undergone several restoration interventions including the one from 1870, in which the Church was repainted, decorated with stucco and marble and equipped with a splendid pipe organ. Inside, on the high altar, there is a majestic marble triptych sculpted by the Palermo sculptor Giacomo Gagini and dated 1542, which depicts the Madonna della Catena in the center and on the sides San Michele Arcangelo and San Giovanni Evangelista, at the top of the work you can admire the statue, of reduced dimensions, of the Eternal Father with a triangle on the head, the right hand blessing and a world map in the left hand. Also worthy of note is the marble statue of the Madonna of the Nativity and the wooden statue of San Leone Vescovo, patron of Sinagra.
