The Capo d'Orlando lighthouse

The Capo d’Orlando lighthouse, located at the foot of the Madonna mountain, is the symbol of the city together with the sanctuary. Since it was built, it has been a point of reference for mariners on the stretch of coast between Capo Calavà and Cefalù. Its construction dates back to the early 1900s. Designed by the engineers of the Civil Engineer and activated in 1904, it is made up of a square-plan red-plastered tower adjacent to a building, also of a square plan and symmetrically located, developed only on the ground floor. The lantern, located at the top of the tower, can be reached via a spiral staircase positioned inside the red tower. The exterior of the tower, like the whole building, is adorned with architectural decorations in white-plastered concrete that give the building a particular neo-Gothic appearance.
