Church of Sant'Andrea and Convent of the Benedictine Sisters - Museum of Sacred Art

Built around 1580, the monumental complex was originally called Pilgrims' Hospital and was inhabited by the Benedictine Sisters. The architectural body includes the Church of Sant'Andrea, with a single nave adjacent to which there is the Convent. Today this has become the seat of an interesting Museum of Sacred Art whose rooms, spread over two floors, house various works from all the churches in the city center. The various sectors that host silverware, sacred vestments, wooden and stone sculptures, splendid illuminated books and paintings on canvas and on wood are fascinating. Among the many works of the highest value, absolute masterpieces of the Museum are: the splendid medieval wooden Crucifix and the sixteenth-century panel depicting the Virgin between Saints Anthony and Sebastian, of the school of Antonello da Messina.
