Monte Calvario

In the historic center of Alcara, in the Rocca district near the Church of San Nicola di Mira, there is a place with great spiritual and anthropological charm, the ancient Monte Calvario where for centuries, during the period of Holy Week, the rite of the Way of the cross. This place, accessible by a monumental staircase, is located outdoors on a high rocky plateau from which you can enjoy a splendid view of the town and the Rocche del Crasto, consists of a small square closed by a wrought iron gate and is surrounded by walls and votive shrines representing the various stations of the Passion of Christ. In the center, there are the three ancient Golgotha ​​crosses, also finely forged in wrought iron.
