Sanctuary of Maria SS. of Divine Providence - Montalbano Elicona

Originally the Church of San Domenico, but always called the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin, this cult building dedicated to Mary Most Holy of Divine Providence was enlarged thanks to the generosity of the Baron of Montalbano Vincenzo Romano. From 1983 it becomes a sanctuary. The wooden statue of the Madonna della Misericordia, dating back to 1700 and attributed to the sculptor Alessandro Pantano, is placed on the high altar. The Madonna carries the infant Jesus in her arms, holding up a globe with her left hand, while holding her right hand as a sign of blessing.
